Biography

Jane Schurter has a BS in Music from Illinois State University, and MA-E from Greenville University. Jane is the owner/ instructor at Ossia Music Studio since 2002 and is currently teaching an active studio of voice and piano students. Jane also serves as the Orchestra Manager for the Illinois Symphony Orchestra.

A soprano, Jane previously held soloist positions at St. Benedict Parish in Chicago, performed with the Ravenswood Orchestra, sang regularly at the Shakespeare Festival in Bloomington, and continues to perform locally as a soloist. Jane was the Director of Music at Immanuel Bible Foundation where she managed the Sacred Music Lending Library, developed the community music program, and directed Immanuel Chorale. Jane is active in the local arts community as a founding member of Bloomington/ Normal Music Teacher’s Association and as Vice President of the Pratt Music Foundation. Jane also serves on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival Society. Jane is active in National Association of Teachers of Singing and National Association of Music Educators, and previously as a leadership member of NFMC Orpheus Club, Beyond the Books Educational Foundation, and Children’s Discovery Museum Guild.
